Community Agreement
When you join Common Thread Closet, you're entering a relationship — not just signing up for a platform. These are the commitments we make to each other.
What We Agree To
These agreements apply to all members — borrowers, lenders, and everyone in between.
We treat all garments with care.
Borrowed pieces deserve the same respect you'd give your own favorites. Wear them gently, store them thoughtfully, and return them clean and in the same condition you received them. If you're not sure how to care for something, ask the lender — they know their piece best.
We return items on time and in agreed condition.
Return timelines keep the closet moving for everyone. If something comes up — life does — communicate early and directly with your lender before the due date. A heads-up is almost always enough. Silence is not.
We communicate openly and respectfully.
This community runs on honest, kind communication. If there's an issue with an item, a return, a request, or an interaction — bring it up. With the lender first. With us if needed. We are a small community and we can work most things out if we talk to each other.
We honor the dignity and autonomy of all members.
Common Thread Closet is a body-liberating space. That means: no comments — ever — on bodies, sizes, style choices, or how someone wears a piece. We are all here to dress for ourselves, and every member deserves to do that without commentary. Violations of this agreement are taken seriously.
We participate in good faith.
A co-op works because everyone contributes to the health of the whole. Lend what you genuinely can, borrow what you genuinely need, and invest in the community beyond just the transaction. Show up for events when you can. Introduce yourself. This is more than a closet.
We take care of conflicts with honesty and compassion.
Conflicts will happen — even in communities built on care. When they do, we address them directly and generously. Assume good intent first. Escalate to us if you need support. We will not take sides, but we will always take harm seriously.
We grow this together.
During beta, we're all figuring this out. If something isn't working — a policy, a process, a piece of the platform — tell us. This community is only as good as the people in it and their willingness to help build it.
Accountability
We believe in restorative approaches first. But some things can't go unaddressed
First Steps
We start with conversation. Most situations — late returns, miscommunications, damaged items — can be resolved between members directly and generously. We encourage you to try that first. We're here to support the process, not manage it for you.
Escalation
When we need to step in. Repeated violations of community agreements, unreturned items, disrespectful behavior, or violations of our body liberation values may result in suspension or removal from the community. We don't take that lightly — but we take this community seriously.
By joining, you agree to the all of the above.
And we're agreeing to show up for you in the same spirit. Welcome to the closet.
