1. About These Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of Common Thread Closet ('the Platform'), operated by Common Thread Closet LLC ('we,' 'us,' 'our'). By creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Who Can Join

Common Thread Closet is open to adults (18+) based in New York City. During the beta period, membership is by invitation or application only. We reserve the right to accept or decline any application.

3. Membership & Fees

Membership fees are charged monthly and go directly toward platform operating costs. Tiers are: Lender Only (free), Borrow + Lend ($5–10/month), and Borrow Only ($10–15/month). Fees are non-refundable except in cases of billing error. You may cancel your membership at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

4. Real Names & Accounts

All members must use their real name on the Platform. Fake names, aliases, or misrepresentation of identity may result in account suspension. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Keep your login credentials secure.

Lending, Borrowing, & Liability

5. Lending Items

By listing an item, you confirm that you own it and have the right to lend it. You understand that items may be worn, handled, and returned in similar (though not always identical) condition. Common Thread Closet is not responsible for damage to lent items, though we will facilitate dispute resolution in good faith.

6. Borrowing Items

By borrowing an item, you agree to: (a) treat the item with care, (b) return it by the agreed date and in the agreed condition, (c) follow the lender's stated care instructions, and (d) communicate any issues promptly and honestly. Failure to return an item may result in account suspension and community accountability processes.

7. Damage & Disputes

Common Thread Closet does not insure lent items. Members are encouraged to only list items they're comfortable lending. In cases of damage or dispute, we will facilitate mediation between members but cannot guarantee outcomes or reimbursement. Members agree to engage in dispute resolution in good faith.

8. Prohibited Items

The following items may not be listed: undergarments, swimwear, items in unwearable condition, counterfeit goods, or any items you do not own or have the right to lend.

9. Community Standards

All members must adhere to our Community Agreements available here. Violations may result in suspension or permanent removal at our sole discretion.

10. Limitation of Liability

Common Thread Closet is provided 'as is.' We make no warranties regarding platform availability, item condition, or member behavior. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Platform.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify active members of material changes via email. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
